I have over 35years of practical experience playing the Great Highland Bagpipe. I was taught by Joe McAdam then by Thomas Robinson. I was fortunate to live near two great teachersand greatly appreciate their influence on my piping career to date;helping to mould me into the player and teacher I am today.
I started to learn in Waringsford Pipe Band near Dromore while travelling to Ballynahinch Pipe Band for further tuition. Under the tutelage of Joe I entered solo competitions becoming a regular prize-winner. Thomas Robinson began to teach Waringsford Pipe Band and they entered in to the competition scene proving to be very successful in the lower grades.
I joined Upper Crossgare in 1989 who were a very successful band in Grade 2and won every major honour from Provincial, All-Ireland, Scottish, British, European and World titles.
Meet Brendan Megoran
A dynamic and enthusiastic musician and tutor that has over 30 years experience. I have travelled all over Northern Ireland teaching various ercussion instruments to a wide audience that has included individual and group tuition as well as within the education sector in Controlled, Maintained, Voluntary Grammar Schools, Integrated and Special Needs.
Meet Kathleen Smyth
I have over 25 years of bass and tenor drumming with years competing as a drum major before that.
The first band I was a member of, was Frank Rainey Memorial in Drumaness. This band had a lot of success competing in Grade 4 and I won a lot of titles with them from local competitions as well as the Ulster and All-Ireland titles, cumulating in becoming World Champions. This ensured promotion to Grade 3.
I joined Killeen Pipe Band who following several successful seasons had gained promotion to Grade 2. Here the bands several local county titles as well as the Ulster and All-Ireland titles.
I have been a member of Annsborough Pipe Band, who was in Grade 3. Annsborough became a prolific winner at competitions winning all local county competitions as are Ulster, All-Ireland and World titles.
I have been a member of Ballycoan pipe band who were dominant winning several County level competitions progressed through the year picking up Ulster, All-Ireland and World titles ensuring promotion to the prestigious Grade 1.
